I’m guessing here but the yacht was probably never out of sight of land. They start out on the 22nd of November 1793 so the sail would have been a demanding winter trip but the Captain maintained civil contact with Muir and Palmer and allowed them to dine with officers. The sail would have taken several days and gone out past the Bass Rock, Lindisfarne, Whitby, Grimsby, Great Yarmouth and Southend-on-sea, before sailing up the Thames.
